We don’t know how it happened so soon, but 2017 is already coming to a close. The end of the year seems to be a natural time to pause, look in the rearview mirror, and reflect. What have we done this year? Where have we been? What have we learned in the last 12 months?
This was a productive year at Microsystems: we’ve established promising new partnerships, released exciting new technology like our Litigation Companion, and managed a busy calendar of legal technology and life sciences conferences. Here are a few of our highlights from 2017.
1. We’ve built some impressive new partnerships.
We partnered with XRef toward the end of 2016, and in 2017, our parent company, K1, expanded our reach even further through a merger with Litéra and the Sackett Group. Our new name will be Litera Microsystems.
Together, we are creating the world’s first—and only—end-to-end document solution for lawyers and corporate counsel. After years of innovation and divergence, tech companies everywhere are starting to team up to bring integrated solutions to their clients. Litera Microsystems is delighted to be part of that movement.
2. We’ve learned a tremendous amount at industry conferences.
In 2017, Microsystems attended or exhibited at a total of 17 events around the world, about evenly split between our major industry focuses: legal technology and life sciences. From ILTACON, the annual conference for the International Legal Technology Association, to the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) Convergence conference and the Drug Information Association conference, we’ve enjoyed expanding our horizons this year.
Some of our key takeaways from the year include the realization that health-care regulatory writers and researchers don’t yet have access to the kind of sophisticated wraparound document services that we—and our partners—have specialized in providing for legal professionals. In these fast-moving fields, the company that can get a potentially life-saving product to market first wins. We’re looking forward to helping our life sciences clients streamline their document formatting, table production, and quality-control processes so they can focus on what matters: producing defensible scientific content.
3. We’ve had a great time meeting and getting to know our clients in person.
The other great thing about conferences? We have had the chance to meet and talk, often one-on-one, with many existing and potential clients. This year, as we have in the past, we also conducted a number of surveys among the audiences at our legal and life sciences conferences. We’ll be unveiling some of those results in 2018, and we’re already adapting our work to meet the needs we’ve been hearing about.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished at Microsystems in 2017, and we can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring. We hope you’ll experience it with us!
